Response to Nextdoor Outrage Regarding City Council Suing the Mayor

Y’all are doing the most disservice to the truth. The fact of the matter is each and everyone of you knew who Khalid was when you voting for him. His behavior as a council member did not, I repeat did not warrant him being elected as Mayor. Each of you voted for him because you wanted Bill Edwards out. You threw out the baby with the bath water and now you are acting surprised?

Ms. Gilyard I need you to stand down because you took part in the foolishness when were in office. Go back and review the meetings on YouTube. Mr. Snellings is a personal friend of the Mayor so his knowledge of what’s going on and subsequent reactions are prejudice.

A lawsuit was needed because the Mayor alledgedly violated the charter plain and simple. It’s the only way to bring attention to the matter and get him to stop. Executive Sessions are private discussions related to real estate, personnel and litigation. It’s expressively understood by all elected officials that confidential conversations are not to be discussed outside of the session. Recording of a session is highly suspect. Khalid knows this and was betting on they would not file a suit much less attempt to remove him from office. The Superior Court of Georgia will have the last say.

I’m not surprised by anything that has taken place. I told you folks this would happen if he was elected. His actions to remove Bill and Helen from office was the catalyst for all this. Ms. Gilyard was there by the way. If you folks live long enough you’ll learn folks don’t forget slights and dissrespect. Karma is a MF as folks say. It’s an eye for an eye.

You wanna talk economic development. The Mayor likes to trumpet that the CoSF is the blackest city in America. That don’t mean a damn thing if we aren’t an excellent city. I cringe when he says it because the reality is corporations don’t want to be a part of the blackest anything and you all know it. As a people we don’t help ourselves. Atlanta has three of the largest black development companies in the country yet NOT ONE is doing business in the City of South Fulton. We come off as a pariah in devleopment circles because our government is seen as dysfunctional.

How to fix it? The Mayor should step down. I know that’s causing a lot of mental gymanastic, but nothing changes if he doesn’t. You are aware the Mayor’s job is mostly ceremonial outside of presiding over the Council Meeting. When the next election takes place look closer at the people you are electing. Don’t vote for folks that are seeking to create dysfunction and can’t work with others. Also, the city should seek out a City Manager who is a leader first and foremost. A real leader can bring order to dysfunction.

Disclaimer: As publisher of https://southfultonliving.com I provided space to ALL 71 candidates running for office during the initial campaign as I did the referendum. Recorded on video the Mayoral Candidates interviews by our House Delegation. You can find it on YouTube. Voted FOR the city (would do it a thousand times), I committed resources and worked with the People’s Campaign. I also voted for Bill BOTH times and campaigned for him. I voted for Ms. Gilyard the first time and campaigned for Ms. Gilyard’s opponent in the General Election and Runoff the second time.
