Fulton County to begin mailing Assessment  Notices

The Fulton County Board of Assessors (BOA,) will begin mailing Assessment Notices to 106, 600 property owners on Saturday, June 6, 2009.

“Ninety percent of the notices will show a reduction in value,” said Fulton County Chief Appraiser Burt Manning. “Because of new state regulations we have to include foreclosures and bank sales; and that, along with the downturn in the economy, is a major factor in the decreasing property values.”

According to Manning there is a silver lining behind the dark cloud of  the depressed housing market.  “ There are also new state regulations that prohibit upward revaluation of properties,”   Manning said.  “In some portions of Fulton County property values have not fallen, and those properties will not see an increase in value.”

Property owners have 45 days from the June 6th mailing date to appeal their valuations.  Those appeals should be in writing and mailed to; The Fulton County Board of Assessors, 141 Pryor Street, S.W, Suite 1056, Atlanta, Ga. 30303.
